3D printed Yagi parts to build your own yagis. ASA resin is UV resistant and densly printed so parts are highly durable.
Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA) is a plastic that is very closely related to ABS. Instead of the butadiene component, which gives ABS its superior impact resistance, ASA has acrylate embedded in its acrylonitrile-styrene matrix. With acrylate, ASA has about ten times more resistance against degradation by UV radiation and weathering compared to ABS.
In contrast to ABS, which turns yellow and brittle after prolonged UV exposure, ASA can retain its glossy finish and mechanical strength. It has also displayed good resistance against heat and chemical degradation. This unique characteristic of ASA has made it the top material of choice for 3D printed objects meant to be used outside. These could include road signages, outdoor adventure equipment, garden fixtures, and automotive parts.
ASA has good resistance against most solvents, oils, salt solutions, alkalis, and weak acids. Also like ABS, ASA prints at high temperatures. Again, this will introduce challenges during the printing process, such as the print being prone to warping or stringing. Printing with ASA will also be a very power-intensive process, as you’ll need to use a heated bed as well.
Probably the only reason why most people still print with ABS instead of ASA is the fact that ASA is quite expensive – probably more than twice as expensive as ABS.

What can a Yagi do for me?
Technicians take note: According to EZNEC Pro2 antenna design software, a 16 element 70cm (440 MHz) or 2 m (146 MHz) yagi gives 13 dBi forward gain and 21.5 dB front to back isolation with 1.5:1 SWR across the entire band. I’ve used the 2m one to contact repeaters over 130 miles away using my 5w handheld.
